The Beaulyshire Gathering is a traditional approach to a non-commercial Celtic Gathering and Games, hosted on private land, and not open to the general public.

Held annually in the middle of August, this Grass Valley venue includes a variety of attractions from heavy athletics to music to crafts and Clan presentations.

Self contained camping is promoted to take advantage of the Friday and Saturday evening Ceilidh.

Going back one thousand years it was the tradition for a Scottish Clan Chief, or Laird of the land, to host a gathering of Clans for several days.  The Chief would provide hospitality, food, drink & entertainment.  Held annually, but often preceding a battle, this was often a gathering of intrigue.

Visiting Clans would bestow upon the Chief gifts of livestock for food, weapons for war, even women for marriage, as a sign of the wealth and largesse of that Clan, and to invoke favored treatment by the Chief.

At the Gathering would be a march where each Clan would pass in review of the Chief, pledge fealty in times of distress, and demonstrate by numbers the strength of the Clan.  Also to show the Chief that the visiting Clan is strong enough to fend off an attack...perhaps even by their host.

2011 Visiting Celts:  Clan Fraser, Mother Lode Scots, MLS Chief Kevin Fraser, 2006 World Caber Seniors Champion Jack (and Paullette) Magee, Kilted CandyMan, Stewarts, Sinclairs
